It's been well known for quite a while that you will get much quicker boot-up time and much better tracking if you only use standard CD-r's and always burn at no more than 2x (I always did mine at 1X) and always use a single session (no packet writing, no multi-session, ect.) I know it seems wasteful, but CD-r's are so cheap anyway and your player will start up almost instantly, and should skip less. Try it, you'll see!
