The Obvious answer is to read the manual (page 53 to 61). Having said that, it reads as if a Korean DAP company has tried to translate a korean version into english:lol. That's the case for me anyway!!
Have a look at this to figure things out, then come back and ask more questions if you're still confused.
(I assume you have the manual, but if its not around, like it's in its box far, far away or something, then download it from the iRiver Global website, where if you're not happy with english, try out french)
