I ask because I am looking to buy a new flash player, and I did a bit of searching this week, but didnt find any that stood out as much better feature-wise. 40 hours battery life especially seems to be ifp's strong point, against the tradeoff of being slightly bigger due to AA batery, in comparison to some competitors with internal lithium.

I'm a huge fan of flash players, esp. the athletic accessory type.. I've got a Samsung YP-T5, and Samsung YP-MT6. The MT6 is the best player I've ever owned, by far. Far better than the iFP-8xx series too; I gave away my iFP and T5 because they just don't compare.
My MT6 plays all Ogg songs (not just certain 'magical' CBR-encoded ones) and gets the same battery life as the iRiver did with Ogg files (when they would even play at all, which was a special occasion). Also the sound is better. Check Amazon for prices - $115 for the 512MB unit.

Features that win:
-UMS
-size (way smaller than iFP, good for jogging)
-cheaper
-plays ALL Ogg (the main reason I bought it, actually)
-cheaper
-superb sound

Features the same as iRiver:
-USB 2.0
-radio (the Samsung's a tiny bit better)
-42 hour batt. life (manuf. est.)
-stupid little joystick (for navigation)
-AA batt. powered
-tedious playlist creation

Features where iRiver wins:
-13mW/channel

If you want something even tinier, get the YP-T6.
Hope that helps
