MIDI is now listed in codecs to be supported, although it remains to be seen if all codecs listed will be implemented. Still no news on support for other GM codecs, I made a thread in the official Rockbox forums though with no official answer, so my advice is for you (or anyone else) to post there to show that I'm not the only one who would like this feature.
