Actually guys if you check it out there are lots of users using 4 AA alkalines, this works fine the player is designed to accept more than the stated voltage for safetys sake and the battery protection. There is no need for a dummy battery. Also alkalines in their nature deteriate in proformance, try a torch with them over time it gets dimmer, rechargables will give the same output for longer often till they near depletion. Plus the cost of 8 batteries and a charger is refunded in about 5 charges compared to Alkalines asthey are just disposed of.
