Try grabbing the power from the red and black (only!) from another USB cable plugged into a PC or Laptop and see if that works. Leave the other ones as you have them.
It should be plugged into the Media port on the iRiver.
Make sure you're in browser mode.
What devices are you trying? A good "will likely work" device is a USB Thumbdrive - they generally will fire up. Good to test with.
