Upcoming iriver Players

DesignFabulous over at DAPreview is reporting that iriver is planning to launch 3 new players in the next 3 1/2 months.  These include the P10, Volcano (new name coming) and the LPlayer.  The P10, perhaps the most anticipated player that iriver debuted at CES 2008 is scheduled for a July launch in Korea and it’s not looking like the U.S. will see the player anytime soon.  The LPlayer is targeted for a Korean release in June and our guess is that it will make it to U.S. shores.  The Volcano is targeted for a May release in Korea.  The post at DAPreview can be found here.

iriver E100 Review by Pocketables.net

Jenn K. Lee is a busy lady, and has just released her exhaustive review of the new iriver E100. A great review with good photos and in depth commentary on iriver’s newest release into the flash player market. “The E100 is still a solid player that does many things well, but it isn’t the stellar DAP many were hoping for when details were first revealed at CES 2008. Most users will be pleased by the unit’s sound quality, battery life, design, and extra features, but some (like me) will be left wanting more. The iriver E100 is undeniably good . . . but it’s not great.”

iriver iAMOLED Photo Tank - CES 2008

Perhaps the most industrial looking iriver player since the H100 series, the Photo Tank was on display today and didn’t disappoint. Weighing in with capacities of 80GB or 160GB, the Photo Tank is touted as a media storage device, but seems to be a multi media player as well. It features a world’s first 4.1″ AMOLED Display, iriver’s Spinn System Navigational controls, Video, Photo, Music, Flash Games, FM Tuner, Voice Recording and DMB (where available) and TV Out. It also is expandable via both SD and CF slots.

iriver GSM Phone - CES 2008

One of the biggest surprises from iriver at CES was the GSM phone that was on display. Basically a W7 with different firmware, iriver was able to place a call to the misticriver hotline via this nifty gadget and talk away. Don’t know if we’ll see it hit the states, but it was a cool device. No specs available at this time.

iriver P10 - CES 2008

The iriver P10 debuted at CES this year. The type of player that iriver enthusiasts have been hoping for ever since the H300 series disappeared from production. Finally a hard drive based player, but is it too little, too late? The P10 is a PMP by design and meant to compete in that arena with the likes of the Archos Series, Cowon A3, etc. The P10 is only sporting 33GB, which by today’s standards of 80GB & 160GB hard drives is rather meager. The P10 does enter the game with some great features and a clean look. Touted as supporting “All Codecs” and having an E-Dictionary, FM Tuner, Flash Games and a lovely 4.0″ 800×400 Touchscreen LCD, the P10 is no slouch.
